IELTS Speaking & Writing Question Vaults

Here you can find a range of speaking and writing questions, perfect for helping you to prepare for your test!

IELTS Speaking part 1 questions

Speaking part 1 question sets are made up of 4-5 questions. The questions are usually fairly simple, although they tend to get more difficult as you move through the set. Part 1 can cover a very broad variety of topics, although there are a limited number of possible topics on the test at any one time.

IELTS Speaking parts 2 & 3 questions

Part 2 of the speaking test, the long turn, requires you to speak for 1 to 2 minutes on a topic given by the examiner. You will have 1 minute to prepare before speaking. Part 3 is related to your part 2 topic. The examiner can make up their own questions in part 3, so no two speaking tests are the same.

IELTS Writing task 1 questions (Academic)

In the academic version of the test, your IELTS writing task 1 requires you to describe either data or a diagram. There are lots of different types of task 1 question, so you will need to prepare this very thoroughly. Be sure to read our blog posts and take our IELTS writing task 1 courses so you can deal with any academic task 1.

IELTS Writing task 1 questions (General)

The IELTS writing task 1 in general tests will require you to write a letter. The situations behind these letters vary greatly, so make sure you use appropriate language. While the question gives you the overall context in which to write the letter, you may need to be a bit creative to reach the word count when answering!

IELTS Writing task 2 questions (Academic & General)

The IELTS writing task 2 questions for academic and general test takers are similar but not identical. As a general rule, the general test questions are easier. However, the scoring requirements are similar and both require you to write an academic essay of over 250 words.

Full IELTS Speaking and writing mock tests

In this last vault, you will find full speaking and writing tests.
